05/04/09: Swine Flu & You...
The recent swine flu epidemic is different from past cases of swine flu which mainly affected people
who had direct contact with pigs. This new outbreak has spread from person to person among people who
haven't had any contact with swine. It is not a food borne illness and cannot be caused by eating
pork products that are properly cooked.
The Illinois Dept of Public Health reminds people to take precautions to stay healthy by following the three C's:
Clean: Properly wash your hands frequently.
Cover: Cover your cough and sneeze.
Contain: Contain your germs by staying home if you are sick.
