After evaluating a number of mammography units, the physicians
of the clinic chose the Bennett Contour Mammography unit in
October 1997 as the unit best able to complement our ongoing
commitment to the early detection of breast cancer.
Unlike many mammography units, several unique features allow
this unit to image a greater portion of the chest wall, which is
a significant factor in ensuring our patients have access to the
best technology the industry has to offer. To further aid in the
diagnosis of breast disease, a breast ultrasound unit was added
to the department in March of 1999.
You will find our location to be convenient, the setting
comfortable, and our technicians to be among "the best in
the business".
Appointments are scheduled every half hour, generally lasting

Digital Mammography; the Gold Standard
The Sterling Rock Falls Clinic and CGH Medical Center are pleased to announce the latest in digital mammography technology is now available right here in Sterling! With the installation of Fuji's Computed Radiography for Mammography (FCRm) system, we are proud to be among the first in the region to offer this digital mammography capability. Digital mammography is the gold standard
for mammograms today and the preferred technology for women everywhere. "We are very pleased that women of the Sauk Valley will now have access to the very latest state-of-the-art technology when getting their mammograms," says Dr. Jeffery LeMay, Obstetrician/Gynecologist
The procedure for a digital mammogram is the same as for a conventional film mammogram; however, the images are available almost immediately, and can be readily transferred to a CD. They can be electronically viewed, transmitted and stored. The images are easily enlarged and enhanced to aid in review. According to Dr. Thomas P. McGlone, Surgeon, "The digital images will improve care and decrease the number of repeat films needed for our breast care patients. The quality of the images is remarkable when compared with previous methods of breast cancer screening. The mammograms are easily viewed in the exam room at the time of patient consultation, in surgery or for comparison with previous films".
According to the American Cancer Society, 96 percent of women who find and treat breast cancer early will be cancer-free after five years. Call today to schedule your digital mammogram:
