Breast ultrasound, or High Definition Imaging, is a procedure generally used to compliment
mammography. Breast
ultrasounds are done to evaluate an area seen on a mammogram, a palpable
breast lump, or an area of pain within the breast. Ultrasound is very good
at distinguishing between fluid-filled cysts and solid breast masses. The
availability of this information helps the radiologists and surgeons
determine the need for a biopsy. Breast ultrasounds are a painless
procedure generally taking no more than 30 minutes to perform.
